Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the breakdown of uranium in soil. It’s colorless, odorless, and impossible to detect without a proper test. Long‑term exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, which is why regular testing and mitigation are so important.

How do I know if my home or business needs radon testing?

Every property—new or old—should be tested. Radon can seep into any building through cracks, joints, and openings in the foundation. Because it varies from site to site, even neighboring homes can have very different levels. The only way to know your risk is to test.

How often should I test for radon?

The EPA recommends testing every two years, after major renovations, or after installing a mitigation system. If you’re buying or selling a home, testing is also highly recommended.
